Dr Chua first obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Malaya (UM) before he continued on to do his Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery there. During his postgraduate training, he completed two fellowships in Australia & Switzerland before finally finishing his postgraduate training in the Philippines.

Dr Chua’s clinical focus areas include Degenerative Joint Disease of Knee, Hip & Shoulder; Post Knee & Hip Replacement complications and problems; Sports Injuries; Fracture and Trauma related problems; and Bone Health. He also specialises in areas like Robotic Hip & Knee Arthroplasty Surgery and Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS), where his first robot-assisted bilateral total hip replacement was done in July 2021 using the Mako SmartRobotics™ system for a 68-year-old female patient who suffered from a bilateral severe osteoarthritis.

Aside from being a specialised expert in joint reconstruction surgeries and the latest high-tech orthopaedic surgeries, he is also a passionate educator, having gained years of experience in teaching, knowledge sharing, training, and research on arthroplasty and joint surgeries locally and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr Chua’s fellowship in The Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Accredited Fellowship was in Adult Hip & Knee Construction and Anthroplasty; whereas his Switzerland fellowship was in Pelvis & Acetabulum Trauma and Hip Construction. In the Philippines, Dr Chua was placed at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital in Manila, under the Section of Shoulder Surgery and Section of Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Clinical Rotation.
